Today's Message:The Haven of Rest

Special: There is a Haven

DPsa 27:4  One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

Are we to view prayer as getting?
Are we to think of getting close enough to God through prayer that we then can use that relationship as leverage to get what we want?
Or are we to understand there should really be one and only one desire when praying?
The author said, “One thing have I desired of the Lord.”- what do you want from God? What should you learn to want from God?
“That I may dwell”- your soul needs a resting place, a safe place, a place of refreshment and deep relationship. To dwell in a home doesn’t mean to live there 24 hours a day, but it does mean a place to which you return constantly. It is not your “summer home”, but your permanent residence. Spiritual snow birds who only come to God for refuge from the storms of life do not have God as a dwelling place. Those who “visit” God on Sundays and consider this their religious duty in full do not dwell in God.
There is a haven for the weary soul to turn to. A song says it well: “I’ve anchored my soul in the haven of rest.”

“Dwell” comes from a root word meaning to sit down, to settle down, to marry, to dwell.

Has your soul found a resting place, as a bird seeks it nest after a long day? Have you discovered the beauty of Home-Sweet-Home with God, or are you a wandering soul, who likes to visit God, but cannot say you dwell there?

The ceiling and the bathroom in the basement were worked on this week. The ceiling is almost complete. It looks like Alex and the youth group will be painting this Thursday.

Revival dates for the spring will be sometime late April with Rev. McKenzie.  Pastor Mike will be gone April 7th and 14th to hold a revival meeting in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

The church finances are up thanks to the giving of the people. Your faithfulness to support is very much appreciated.  Funds for a church van is still needed.
