Mike & Gina Yancey: More of Thee

Pastor Mike Yancey

The Resurrection Life

When a seed falls into the ground, it does not return a seed. If it dies, it lives again in a marvelous way. When Christ died he arose again in a much different way.
The Scripture is clear- the way to truly live is to die to self- your ambitions, your ego, your sense of morality. People not having died to self do not know what it is to truly live a supernatural life. When God asks you to surrender your habits, your thinking, your friendships, your haunts, he intends to replace those things with something far greater. In fact, He says, “There is no man that has left a house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. (Mar 10:29-30)
Unless you know the other side of the grave of death to self and its life, the request of Jesus for the Rich Young Ruler to sell all he had and follow Him looks unfeeling and cruel. Unless you were a farmer and understood the law of the harvest, it would seem a waste to bury thousands of seeds in the ground. Unless you have decided to surrender all your life to Christ, that particular prospect is as dark and unpromising as a grave to you… But hear a word from those on the other side of death to self: “Over here you truly live as you never have before!” -Resurrection Life!

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life”
– John 14:6
