Today's Sermon: Living by a Higher Law

Today's Special: Your Captain is Strong and True

Glorious Uncertainty, But Sure of God
2Ti 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, (not what I have believed) and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

In the realm of belief, whenever I become certain of my creeds, I kill the life of God in my soul, because I cease to believe in God and believe in my belief instead. All through the Bible the realm of the uncertain is the realm of joy and delight; the certainty of belief brings distress. Certainty of God means uncertainty in life; while certainty in belief makes us uncertain of God. Certainty is the mark of the common-sense life; gracious uncertainty is the mark of the spiritual life, and they must both go together. Mathematics is the rule of reason and common sense, but faith and hope is the rule of the spiritual. "It is not yet made manifest what we shall be "-we are gloriously uncertain of the next step, but we are certain of God. When we abandon to God and do the duty that lies nearest, He packs our lives with surprises all the time.- Oswald Chambers

Encouragement of others is a powerful leadership tool and deals with basic communication skills. The most effective way to encourage others is to show genuine interest and acknowledge what’s important to them. When we show interest, we affirm and validate.
Applaud their victories and show compassion in their defeats. When others encourage you, always reciprocate the favor and encourage them and then when respond with something unexpected. Ask for advice from others, for it makes them feel special. Offer to lend a hand, for when people see you are willing to lend your own time and energy to their interests, they will become more committed to seeing it through and less likely to give up on themselves.
We all need to be lifted up and encouraged at times and the Bible is the greatest source for encouragement, far greater than any human encouragement. The Bible is the living word of God and feeds us through the promises of God found in scripture. -  John Grant

We are having a very special singing group this next Sunday night on 23 @ 6:30 P.M. Please make plans to enjoy great Christian music that will lift the spirits.

We still need all the help we can get around the church on maintenance issues. Please feel free to step in. Thank you, Barb, for volunteering. God bless you for what you can do.

Sis. Heldenbrand is facing surgery, again.

The Esparza’s will be gone to their son’s wedding. I am sure this is a wonderful time and they would appreciate our prayers for their safe journey over the many miles. We pray God’s blessing on their son and daughter in law’s new home and life to be established.

Due to other activities, there will be no pot-luck next week

Continue to pray for Sis. Heldenbrand's recovery.
