SPECIAL: Mike & Gina Yancey: Nailed to the Cross

Pastor Mike Yancey- Morning Message

Change in Heart

Dear Pilgrims and Friends,
This morning I am preaching on the necessity of change in a person’s heart to make a change in a person’s life. The following verses mysteriously illustrate this truth.
•John12:24 Except corn (kernel of seed) of wheat fall into ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit
•John 3:3-6  Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God…That which is born of flesh is flesh; that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

We are not good people, but changed people. Anybody can say he or she is God’s child, but if they have not experienced a change of heart, they are not citizens and don’t act like citizens of Heaven.

Christ made it clear that where he was going when he left this earth was not the final destination of so many who claimed to be God’s children.

John 8:21-24 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.  (23)Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.  (24)  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

The songs we sing today echo the wonderful change that happens in a sinner-turned-saved child of God.

On a pastoral note: Please continue to pray for John Cooke, who is trying to recover from hip surgery. Also, Sis. Heldenbrand has had money stolen from her bank account and this is devastating to her. Please pray she recovers it.

Remember Bro. Croy, who is continuing to struggle with his physical condition.
Your prayers for me are also coveted. Due to a hectic schedule, I feel I am not able to get to all that needs attention as a pastor. Thank you for all you do. God bless.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

This has been a busy spring and summer around the church and parsonage. The remodeling project in the basement is coming along and is getting close to completion. The cooler in the church has been replaced and we hope all the leaks have been fixed. After 6 years, the sprinkler system at the church is now functional and should help keep the grass greener.

The Pilgrim Nazarene Church family camp will be from July 29th, through August 5th. The pastor and his family plan on attending this camp and will be gone during this time. Pastor Mike will be playing the piano for the evening services. Jerry Esparza will be working behind the scenes to help stream the services on the web.

It won’t be long and VBS will be here. A lot of preparation goes into this week of children’s ministry. If you would like to help, please see Edith or Heather. The dates for VBS
are August 14th through the 18th. From 6:00pm
to 8:30pm.
